Return to the list of news releases. TireWare launches eCommerce website - by William Schertz - Tire Business MagazineRelease Date: 6/27/2008 EDENTON, N.C. (June 27, 2008) - TireWare Inc. recently launched mytiremonkey.com, an ecommerce marketplace that allows consumers to locate tires online, price and order them directly from a tire dealer's inventory and arrange for installation. The Edenton-based business software solutions provider said it built the Web site to increase business for local dealers, taking advantage of the growing number of consumers who make purchases online. "The majority of independent dealers are not attracting Internet consumers," said Tully Ryan, president and CEO of TireWare. "Every day, they are facing increased competition from car dealerships, big box retailers and Internet wholesalers. "The Internet wholesalers are diminishing dealers' involvement with consumers to be strictly tire installers," he added. "We decided to help independent dealers be more competitive over the Internet." Mr. Ryan referred to mytiremonkey.com as the "Lending Tree for tires," referring to the Web site that collates mortgage rates for home buyers. Dealers can subscribe to the Web site regardless of their affiliations and the point-of-sale (POS) systems they use. Dealers who subscribe to the service through November 2011 will be charged $39.95 per location per month, saving $10 per location per month. There is no set-up cost for registering with the site. Upon filling out the registration information, dealers can receive up to five opportunities to respond to a consumer quote request before being required to subscribe to the service. "We know this is not going to be for every single dealer or dealer's location," Mr. Ryan said. "There may be some dealers in rural areas where consumers aren't using the Internet as much.... This is a way to see the opportunities and see the frequency of the opportunities." TireWare said it is finalizing agreements with several distributors and buying groups that will offer site subscriptions as a value-added service to their affiliates. The company is conducting two marketing tests in July and August and plans to roll out a national scaled marketing plan in the third and fourth quarters.
